Ballistic Parachute
A ballistic parachute is a safety device designed to slow down and stabilize an aircraft during an emergency landing. Unlike traditional parachutes that deploy at lower altitudes, ballistic parachutes are ejected from the aircraft using a small explosive charge, allowing them to open quickly and effectively at higher altitudes.
These parachutes are commonly found in small aircraft and some light sport aircraft. They provide an additional layer of safety for pilots and passengers by enabling a controlled descent in case of engine failure or other critical situations, potentially preventing serious injuries or fatalities.
