Balkan chamois
The Balkan chamois is a subspecies of the chamois, a goat-antelope found in the mountainous regions of Europe. It primarily inhabits the rugged terrains of the Balkans, particularly in countries like Albania, Montenegro, and Kosovo. This animal is well-adapted to steep, rocky environments, using its agility to navigate cliffs and slopes.
Balkan chamois are characterized by their short, stocky bodies, dark brown fur, and distinctive curved horns. They are herbivores, feeding on grasses, shrubs, and other vegetation found in their alpine habitat. Conservation efforts are in place to protect their populations, which face threats from habitat loss and hunting.
