BSL-4
BSL-4, or Biosafety Level 4, is the highest level of biocontainment used in laboratories. It is designed to handle dangerous and exotic pathogens that pose a high risk of life-threatening disease, such as the Ebola virus and Marburg virus. Facilities operating at this level have strict safety protocols and specialized equipment to prevent any exposure to these pathogens.
Laboratories classified as BSL-4 are equipped with advanced ventilation systems, sealed environments, and protective clothing, including positive pressure suits. Access to these labs is highly restricted, and only trained personnel can enter. The goal of BSL-4 is to ensure the safety of both the researchers and the public while studying these hazardous agents.
