BSL-1
BSL-1 (Biosafety Level 1) is the lowest level of biosafety containment. It is designed for work with well-characterized agents that are not known to consistently cause disease in healthy adults. Laboratories operating at this level typically use standard microbiological practices and do not require special containment equipment.
In a BSL-1 laboratory, basic safety measures include wearing gloves and lab coats, along with proper handwashing techniques. These labs are suitable for teaching and research involving non-pathogenic strains of bacteria and other microorganisms, ensuring a safe environment for researchers and the public.
