BMT
BMT, or Bone Marrow Transplant, is a medical procedure used to treat various diseases, including certain types of cancer, blood disorders, and immune system conditions. The process involves replacing damaged or diseased bone marrow with healthy stem cells, which can be sourced from the patient (autologous transplant) or a donor (allogeneic transplant).
The procedure typically follows chemotherapy or radiation therapy to eliminate unhealthy cells. After the transplant, patients may require a lengthy recovery period, during which they are monitored for complications and infections. Successful BMT can lead to improved health and a better quality of life for patients.
