BCS National Championship
The BCS National Championship was the final game of the Bowl Championship Series, which determined the national champion of NCAA Division I FBS college football. Established in 1998, the BCS used a combination of polls and computer rankings to select the top two teams for the championship game, typically held in early January.
The BCS system was replaced by the College Football Playoff in 2014, which introduced a four-team playoff format. The BCS National Championship featured many memorable matchups and showcased some of the best college football teams in the country, contributing to the sport's popularity.
