Azores Archipelago
The Azores Archipelago is a group of nine volcanic islands located in the North Atlantic Ocean, about 1,500 kilometers west of Portugal. It is an autonomous region of Portugal, known for its stunning landscapes, lush greenery, and unique biodiversity. The islands are divided into three groups: the Eastern Group (São Miguel and Santa Maria), the Central Group (Terceira, Graciosa, São Jorge, Pico, and Faial), and the Western Group (Flores and Corvo).
The Azores have a mild maritime climate, making them a popular destination for outdoor activities such as hiking, whale watching, and diving. The islands are also famous for their geothermal features, including hot springs and fumaroles, particularly on São Miguel. The rich cultural heritage of the Azores reflects a blend of Portuguese traditions and local influences, making it a unique place to explore.
