Autografts
An autograft is a type of tissue transplant where a piece of tissue is taken from one part of a person's body and moved to another part. This method is often used in surgeries to repair damaged tissues, such as skin, bone, or cartilage. Since the tissue comes from the same individual, the risk of rejection is significantly lower compared to other types of grafts.
Common uses of autografts include reconstructive surgeries after injuries or burns, as well as in procedures like bone grafting for orthopedic issues. The body generally accepts its own tissue well, promoting better healing and integration with the surrounding area.
