Australian deserts
Australia is home to several major deserts, including the Great Victoria Desert, Simpson Desert, and Gibson Desert. These arid regions cover about 18% of the country's land area and are characterized by low rainfall, high temperatures, and sparse vegetation. The deserts feature unique landscapes, such as sand dunes, rocky plateaus, and salt flats.
Despite their harsh conditions, Australian deserts support a variety of wildlife, including reptiles, kangaroos, and various bird species. Many plants, like the spinifex grass and desert oak, have adapted to survive with minimal water. These ecosystems play a crucial role in Australia's biodiversity.
