Australian Desert
The Australian Desert is a vast and arid region that covers about 18% of Australia’s land area. It includes several major deserts, such as the Great Victoria Desert, Simpson Desert, and Gibson Desert. These deserts are characterized by their dry climate, sparse vegetation, and unique wildlife adapted to extreme conditions.
The landscape of the Australian Desert features sand dunes, rocky plateaus, and salt flats. Rainfall is scarce, often less than 250 millimeters annually, leading to high temperatures during the day and cooler nights. Despite its harsh environment, the desert is home to various plants and animals, including the thorny devil and red kangaroo.
