Aurochs
The Aurochs were large wild cattle that roamed Europe, Asia, and North Africa. They were known for their impressive size, with males standing up to 6 feet tall at the shoulder and weighing over 1,000 pounds. Aurochs had long, curved horns and a robust body, making them formidable animals in their natural habitat.
These animals played a significant role in ancient ecosystems and were hunted by early humans for their meat and hides. The last known Aurochs died in the 17th century, leading to their extinction. Today, efforts are underway to breed cattle that resemble the Aurochs, known as relict breeds.
