Auricle (Ear)
The auricle, also known as the pinna, is the visible part of the outer ear that helps capture sound waves. It is made of flexible cartilage covered by skin and has a unique shape that aids in directing sound into the ear canal.
The auricle plays a crucial role in hearing by funneling sound towards the tympanic membrane (eardrum). Its structure also helps in determining the direction of sounds, allowing us to locate where they are coming from. Proper functioning of the auricle is essential for effective hearing and communication.
