Augustus De Morgan
Augustus De Morgan was a British mathematician and logician, born on June 27, 1806. He is best known for his work in formal logic and for formulating De Morgan's Laws, which describe the relationship between conjunctions and disjunctions in logic. His contributions laid the groundwork for modern mathematical logic and set theory.
In addition to his work in logic, De Morgan was a prominent figure in the development of mathematics education in England. He served as the first professor of mathematics at University College London and was instrumental in promoting the study of mathematics and its applications. De Morgan passed away on March 18, 1871.
