August Dvorak
August Dvorak was an American professor of education and a psychologist, best known for developing the Dvorak Simplified Keyboard. Born in 1894, he aimed to create a more efficient typing system that would reduce finger movement and increase typing speed. His keyboard layout was designed to place the most commonly used letters under the strongest fingers.
Dvorak's work began in the 1930s, and he collaborated with his brother-in-law, William Dealey, to refine the layout. The Dvorak keyboard has been adopted by some typists and is often compared to the more widely used QWERTY layout, which was developed in the 19th century.
