Audiogram
An audiogram is a visual representation of an individual's hearing ability. It displays the results of a hearing test, showing the softest sounds a person can hear at different frequencies, measured in Hertz (Hz). The graph typically has frequency on the horizontal axis and hearing sensitivity, measured in decibels (dB), on the vertical axis.
Audiograms help audiologists diagnose hearing loss and determine its severity. They can indicate whether the loss is conductive, sensorineural, or mixed. By analyzing the audiogram, professionals can recommend appropriate treatments or interventions, such as hearing aids or therapy, to improve the individual's hearing health.
