Attractants
Attractants are substances or signals that draw organisms towards them, often used in nature for mating, feeding, or locating resources. For example, flowers produce nectar as an attractant to lure pollinators like bees and butterflies, which help in the process of pollination.
In pest control, synthetic attractants are used to lure unwanted insects into traps. These can mimic natural scents or pheromones, which are chemical signals used by animals, including insects, to communicate. By understanding and utilizing attractants, scientists and farmers can manage ecosystems more effectively.
