Atoms For Peace
"Atoms for Peace" was a program initiated by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1953. Its goal was to promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy and to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons. The initiative aimed to share nuclear technology for energy production, medical applications, and agricultural improvements, fostering international cooperation.
The program led to the establishment of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in 1957, which oversees the safe and peaceful use of nuclear technology worldwide. "Atoms for Peace" emphasized the importance of using atomic energy for the benefit of humanity, rather than for military purposes.
