Atlantic croaker
The Atlantic croaker is a species of fish found along the Atlantic coast of North America, from New Jersey to Florida. It is known for its distinctive croaking sound, which is produced by vibrating its swim bladder. This fish typically inhabits estuaries and coastal waters, preferring sandy or muddy bottoms.
Atlantic croakers are generally silver in color with a slightly darker back and can grow up to 18 inches long. They are an important species for both commercial and recreational fishing, often sought after for their mild flavor and firm texture.
