Atal Pension Yojana
The Atal Pension Yojana is a government-backed pension scheme in India aimed at providing financial security to workers in the unorganized sector. Launched in 2015, it encourages individuals to save for their retirement by offering a fixed monthly pension based on their contributions. The scheme is available to citizens aged 18 to 40 years, and the government co-contributes to the pension of eligible subscribers.
Under this scheme, subscribers can choose a pension amount ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 per month, depending on their contributions. The pension is paid after the age of 60, ensuring a steady income during retirement. The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) oversees the implementation of the scheme.
