Asteroid 2001
Asteroid 2001, also known as 2001 FO32, is a near-Earth asteroid that was discovered in 2001. It is classified as an Apollo-type asteroid, which means its orbit crosses that of Earth. This asteroid is approximately 1,300 meters in diameter and travels around the Sun every 810 days.
On March 21, 2021, 2001 FO32 made a close approach to Earth, coming within 2 million kilometers, which is about five times the distance to the Moon. Scientists study such asteroids to better understand their composition and potential impact risks, as well as to gain insights into the early solar system.
