Association of American Feed Control Officials
The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) is a non-profit organization that develops guidelines and standards for the regulation of animal feed and pet food in the United States. Founded in 1909, AAFCO works with state and federal agencies to ensure the safety and quality of animal nutrition products.
AAFCO does not have regulatory authority itself but provides a framework for states to adopt and enforce feed laws. The organization also publishes the Official Publication, which includes ingredient definitions and labeling requirements, helping to promote transparency and consistency in the animal feed industry.
