Association Football, commonly known as soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team's net. Players primarily use their feet to control and pass the ball, but goalkeepers can use their hands within a designated area.
The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end. Matches are typically 90 minutes long, divided into two halves. FIFA, the sport's governing body, organizes major international competitions, including the World Cup, which is held every four years.
