Ashanti King
The Ashanti King, known as the Asantehene, is the traditional ruler of the Ashanti people in Ghana. This title has been held by a succession of kings since the establishment of the Ashanti Empire in the late 17th century. The Asantehene plays a significant role in the cultural and political life of the Ashanti region, serving as a symbol of unity and heritage.
The current Asantehene, Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, was installed in 1999 and has worked to promote education, health, and economic development within the Ashanti community. The Ashanti Kingdom is known for its rich history, including the famous Golden Stool, which represents the soul of the Ashanti nation.
