Asbestos Cement
Asbestos cement is a building material made by mixing asbestos fibers with cement. This combination creates a strong, durable product that is resistant to fire and weather. It was commonly used in roofing, pipes, and siding due to its low cost and long-lasting properties.
However, the use of asbestos cement has declined significantly because of health concerns associated with asbestos exposure. Inhalation of asbestos fibers can lead to serious diseases, including lung cancer and asbestosis. As a result, many countries have implemented regulations to limit or ban the use of asbestos in construction materials.
