Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution
The Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution, commonly known as the IRGC, is a branch of the Iranian Armed Forces established after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Its primary role is to protect the Islamic Republic's political system and maintain internal security. The IRGC operates independently of the regular military and has its own ground, naval, and air forces.
In addition to its military functions, the IRGC is involved in various economic and political activities within Iran. It plays a significant role in shaping the country's foreign policy, particularly in relation to regional conflicts and alliances. The IRGC is also known for its support of various militant groups across the Middle East.
