Armando Galarraga
Armando Galarraga is a former professional baseball pitcher from Venezuela. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) primarily for the Detroit Tigers and is best known for his near-perfect game on June 2, 2010, against the Cleveland Indians. In that game, he retired 26 batters in a row, but a controversial call by the umpire denied him the perfect game.
Galarraga was born on January 15, 1982, in Mérida, Venezuela. He made his MLB debut in 2008 and played until 2013, also spending time with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers. After retiring from professional baseball, he has been involved in various baseball-related activities and community outreach.
