Argentite
Argentite is a mineral composed primarily of silver sulfide (Ag2S). It is known for its metallic luster and dark gray to black color. Argentite is often found in hydrothermal veins and is an important ore of silver, making it valuable in mining.
This mineral typically forms at lower temperatures compared to other silver minerals. When heated, argentite can convert to native silver, which is pure silver. Due to its properties, argentite is significant in the production of silver and is studied in mineralogy for its unique characteristics.
