Arctic tern
The Arctic tern is a small seabird known for its remarkable migratory journey. It breeds in the Arctic regions during the summer and travels to the Antarctic for the winter, covering a distance of about 71,000 kilometers (44,000 miles) each year. This makes it one of the longest migrations of any bird species.
With a wingspan of about 70 to 80 centimeters (28 to 31 inches), the Arctic tern has a slender body and a distinctive black cap on its head. Its plumage is mostly white with gray wings, and it has a sharp, pointed bill. The bird primarily feeds on fish and small marine invertebrates.
