Aquarius Reef Base
Aquarius Reef Base is an underwater research facility located off the coast of Florida in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. It is operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and serves as a platform for marine science research, education, and exploration. The base is situated approximately 63 feet below the ocean's surface and can accommodate a small team of scientists for extended periods.
The facility is equipped with living quarters, laboratories, and communication systems, allowing researchers to study marine ecosystems and conduct experiments in a unique underwater environment. Aquarius Reef Base has been instrumental in advancing our understanding of coral reefs and the impacts of climate change on marine life.
