Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests
The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests are located in northeastern Arizona, covering over 2 million acres. This vast area features diverse landscapes, including pine forests, meadows, and lakes, making it a popular destination for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and fishing.
Established in 1908, the forests are named after the Apache tribe and the Sitgreaves Expedition, which explored the region in the 1850s. The forests are home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, elk, and numerous bird species, providing opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography.
