Antonio Guterres
Antonio Guterres is a Portuguese politician and diplomat who has served as the Secretary-General of the United Nations since January 2017. Before this role, he was the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees from 2005 to 2015, where he focused on global refugee issues and humanitarian crises.
Born on April 30, 1949, in Lisbon, Portugal, Guterres studied engineering and later entered politics. He was the Prime Minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002. Throughout his career, he has been an advocate for peace, sustainable development, and human rights on a global scale.
