Antler
Antlers are bony structures that grow on the heads of members of the Cervidae family, which includes animals like deer, moose, and elk. Unlike horns, which are permanent and made of keratin, antlers are shed and regrown annually. They are typically found only on males, although some female reindeer also grow them.
Antlers serve various purposes, including attracting mates and establishing dominance during the breeding season. The growth of antlers is influenced by factors such as age, genetics, and environmental conditions. Once the mating season is over, males will shed their antlers, often in late winter or early spring.
