Anti-Revolutionary Party
The Anti-Revolutionary Party (ARP) was a political party in the Netherlands founded in 1879. It emerged in response to the growing influence of liberal and socialist movements, advocating for a return to traditional values and the importance of Christianity in public life. The party aimed to protect the interests of the Reformed Church and promote conservative policies.
The ARP played a significant role in Dutch politics throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was part of various coalition governments and contributed to the development of the Christian Democratic movement in the Netherlands. The party eventually merged with other Christian parties in 1977, forming the Christian Democratic Appeal.
