Anthony de Francisci
Anthony de Francisci was an American sculptor born on January 21, 1887, in New York City. He is best known for his work in coin design, particularly the Peace Dollar, which was minted from 1921 to 1935. De Francisci's design was created to commemorate the end of World War I and features a depiction of Lady Liberty on the obverse and an eagle on the reverse.
In addition to his coin work, de Francisci created various sculptures and medals throughout his career. He studied at the National Academy of Design and was influenced by classical art. De Francisci's contributions to American art and numismatics have left a lasting legacy.
