Antarctic fur seal
The Antarctic fur seal is a marine mammal found primarily on sub-Antarctic islands. They are known for their thick fur, which helps them stay warm in cold waters. Adult males can weigh up to 200 kilograms, while females are smaller, averaging around 50 kilograms. These seals are social animals, often seen in large colonies during the breeding season.
Antarctic fur seals primarily feed on fish and krill, using their agility to catch prey underwater. They are known for their playful behavior and can often be seen swimming and diving in the ocean. Their population has rebounded since being protected from hunting in the 20th century.
