Animal Viruses
Animal viruses are infectious agents that specifically target animal cells. They are composed of genetic material, either DNA or RNA, surrounded by a protein coat. These viruses can cause a variety of diseases in animals, ranging from mild infections to severe illnesses. Common examples include the canine parvovirus in dogs and the feline leukemia virus in cats.
Transmission of animal viruses can occur through direct contact, contaminated surfaces, or vectors like insects. Vaccination is a key method for preventing viral infections in pets and livestock. Understanding these viruses helps in managing animal health and preventing outbreaks in populations.
