Animal Navigation
Animal navigation refers to the various methods that animals use to find their way in their environment. Many species, such as birds and sea turtles, rely on the Earth's magnetic field to guide their long-distance migrations. Others use visual landmarks, the position of the sun, or even the stars to orient themselves.
In addition to these methods, some animals have an incredible sense of smell that helps them navigate. For example, honeybees can communicate the location of food sources through dances, while salmon return to their spawning grounds by detecting chemical cues in the water. These navigation techniques are essential for survival and reproduction.
