Animal Cell Organelles
Animal cells contain various organelles, each with specific functions that help maintain cell health and activity. The nucleus acts as the control center, housing genetic material. Mitochondria generate energy through cellular respiration, while ribosomes synthesize proteins essential for cell functions. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) assists in protein and lipid production, and the Golgi apparatus modifies and packages these molecules for transport.
Other important organelles include lysosomes, which break down waste materials, and peroxisomes, which detoxify harmful substances. The plasma membrane surrounds the cell, regulating what enters and exits. Together, these organelles work in harmony to support the life of the animal cell.
