Angono Petroglyphs
The Angono Petroglyphs are ancient rock carvings located in Angono, Rizal, Philippines. Discovered in 1965, these petroglyphs date back to around 3000 B.C. and are considered the oldest known artworks in the country. The site features over 1,000 figures, including human and animal shapes, which provide insight into the beliefs and practices of early Filipinos.
The petroglyphs were carved into a rock face and are believed to have been created by prehistoric people. In 1973, the site was declared a National Cultural Treasure by the Philippine government, highlighting its significance in understanding the country's cultural heritage and history.
