Anglo-Saxon Religion
Anglo-Saxon religion was a polytheistic belief system practiced by the Anglo-Saxons in England before the arrival of Christianity. It centered around a pantheon of gods, including Woden, Thunor, and Tiw, who were associated with various aspects of life, such as war, agriculture, and fate. Rituals often involved sacrifices and offerings to gain favor from these deities.
The Anglo-Saxons also believed in wyrd, a concept similar to fate, which influenced their understanding of life and destiny. Sacred sites, such as groves and springs, were important for worship, and many traditions were later integrated into Christian practices as the religion spread throughout England.
