Andrew Taylor Still
Andrew Taylor Still was an American physician and the founder of osteopathy, a system of medicine that emphasizes the role of the musculoskeletal system in health and disease. Born on August 6, 1828, in Lee County, Virginia, he developed his medical philosophy after experiencing personal tragedies, including the loss of his children.
In 1892, Still established the first osteopathic medical school in Kirksville, Missouri, promoting a holistic approach to healthcare. His work laid the foundation for the practice of osteopathic medicine, which integrates conventional medical treatments with manual therapy techniques. Still passed away on December 12, 1917, leaving a lasting legacy in the field of medicine.
