Anas acuta
Anas acuta, commonly known as the Northern Pintail, is a medium-sized dabbling duck found in North America, Europe, and Asia. It is easily recognizable by its long neck, slender body, and pointed tail. Males have a striking chocolate-brown head, white neck stripe, and grayish body, while females are mottled brown with a more subdued appearance.
These ducks prefer wetlands, marshes, and shallow lakes for breeding and feeding. They primarily eat aquatic plants, seeds, and insects. During migration, Anas acuta travels in large flocks, often seen flying in a V-formation, and they are known for their graceful flight patterns.
