Amphictyonies
An Amphictyony was an ancient Greek religious association of neighboring tribes or cities that came together to protect shared sacred sites and manage common interests. These alliances often revolved around major religious centers, such as the Delphic Oracle, where members would gather for festivals and rituals.
The most famous amphictyony was the Amphictyony of Delphi, which included various Greek city-states. Members contributed to the upkeep of temples and participated in the Pythian Games, fostering unity and cooperation among diverse groups while promoting shared cultural and religious practices.
