American Motors Corporation
American Motors Corporation (AMC) was an American automobile manufacturer founded in 1954. It was created through the merger of Nash-Kelvinator Corporation and Hudson Motor Car Company. AMC was known for producing compact cars and innovative designs, including the popular Javelin and Gremlin models.
The company aimed to compete with larger automakers by focusing on fuel-efficient vehicles during the 1970s oil crisis. Despite its efforts, AMC struggled financially and was eventually acquired by Chrysler Corporation in 1987. The brand was discontinued, but its legacy continues to influence automotive design and culture.
