American Bald Eagle
The American Bald Eagle is a large bird of prey native to North America. It is easily recognized by its white head and tail feathers, contrasting with its dark brown body and wings. The species primarily inhabits areas near large bodies of open water, where it can find fish, its main food source.
Bald eagles have a wingspan of about 6 to 8 feet and can weigh between 3 to 6.3 kg (6.6 to 14 lbs). They are known for their impressive flying abilities and can soar at altitudes of up to 10,000 feet. The Bald Eagle is also the national bird and symbol of the United States.
