Alpine Touring skiing
Alpine Touring skiing, also known as AT skiing, is a type of skiing that combines elements of both downhill and cross-country skiing. It allows skiers to ascend mountains using specialized equipment, including lightweight skis and climbing skins, which provide traction on snow. Once at the top, skiers can remove the skins and descend on the same skis, enjoying untracked powder and varied terrain.
This sport is popular in backcountry areas where groomed trails are not available. Alpine Touring gear typically includes bindings that can switch between a free-heel mode for climbing and a fixed-heel mode for downhill skiing, enhancing versatility and performance.
