Alistair Cooke
Alistair Cooke was a British-American broadcaster, journalist, and writer, best known for his long-running radio program, Letter from America. Born on November 20, 1908, in Salford, England, he moved to the United States in 1937 and became a naturalized citizen in 1941. Cooke's insightful commentary on American life and culture made him a respected figure in media.
In addition to his broadcasting career, Cooke was a skilled writer and authored several books, including biographies and essays. He also served as a television host for the PBS series Masterpiece Theatre, where he introduced classic literature adaptations. Cooke passed away on March 30, 2004.
