Alianza Democrática M-19
The Alianza Democrática M-19 was a Colombian political party formed in 1990, emerging from the guerrilla group known as the M-19. This group was active from the late 1970s until the late 1980s, advocating for social change and political reform in Colombia. The M-19 gained notoriety for its bold actions, including the 1980 occupation of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic and the 1985 Palace of Justice siege.
After signing a peace agreement with the Colombian government in 1990, the M-19 transitioned into a political party, aiming to participate in the democratic process. The party focused on issues such as human rights, social justice, and political inclusion, contributing to Colombia's evolving political landscape.
