Alben W. Barkley
Alben W. Barkley was an American politician who served as the 35th Vice President of the United States from 1949 to 1953 under President Harry S. Truman. Born on November 24, 1877, in Kentucky, he was a member of the Democratic Party and had a long career in public service, including serving in the U.S. House of Representatives and as a U.S. Senator.
Barkley was known for his engaging speaking style and was a key figure in post-World War II politics. After his vice presidency, he continued to be active in politics and was elected to the U.S. Senate again in 1955, serving until his death on April 30, 1956.
