Aladura Churches
Aladura Churches are a group of Christian denominations that originated in Nigeria during the early 20th century. The term "Aladura" means "praying people" in Yoruba, reflecting the churches' emphasis on prayer and spiritual healing. These churches often incorporate African traditional beliefs and practices into their worship, creating a unique blend of Christianity and indigenous culture.
The movement began with the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in 1925 and has since expanded to include various other groups, such as the Celestial Church of Christ and the Christ Apostolic Church. Aladura Churches are known for their vibrant worship services, which often feature lively music, dancing, and prophetic messages.
